SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Alan Paul Sizemore, 47, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2005. Mr. Sizemore was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 31, 1957. He graduated from Grainger High School in 1976 and continued on to receive his Associate Degree in Computer Science from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. During his time in college, Alan served as the President of the Student Government. He also was elected to serve as the President of the Student Government Association for the North Carolina Community College System. After graduation, Alan worked at Network Computing in Charlotte. In 1987, Alan moved to Washington, D.C. where he took a position with Fannie Mae. Then in 1993, he moved to San Francisco where he worked for ITT and then as Vice President of World Savings. During his time in San Francisco, Alan served as President of the San Francisco Names Project, a non-profit organization that seeks to educate and raise awareness of HIV and AIDS. He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, and participated in numerous activities for the betterment of his community and the environment. Alan is survived by his parents, Marvin Paul and Helen Stewart Sizemore of Kinston; and his sister, Paulette Melinda McFadden and her husband, Stephen Lee McFadden, also of Kinston. A memorial service to celebrate Alan's life will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at Neuse Baptist Church, 2909 West Vernon Avenue, Kinston, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may he made to Neuse Baptist Church Building Fund, 2909 West Vernon Avenue, Kinston, NC 28304. Arrangements by Garner Funeral Home. (Paid obituary)
