Alice Marie Barnhart Foley
Mrs. Foley , age 91, passed away on February 3, 2005 after a long illness. Born October 26, 1913 to the late Lloyd and Emma Barnhart in Greenville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Neil D. Foley ; sisters, Lucille Barnhart Koerner and Marcella Barnhart Bickle; brother, Donald Barnhart and son, Dr. David Michael Foley .
Prior to her illness Mrs. Foley was a homemaker, devoted mother, and grandmother who enjoyed making treats for her family and grandchildren. She had been an active member of the Democratic Women's Club and the DAR. She wrote poetry and painted in oils. Many of her pictures are treasured by family or hang at Wesley Nursing Center.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Kraus and brother, Wayne Barnhart both of Ohio; brother, Keith Barnhart and his wife, Ruthann of Bloomington, IL. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Alice Teresa Foley and son, Peter A. Foley and his wife, Shep of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Alice Celeste Foley , Stephen Lapham, Brian Foley and his wife, Jennifer, Douglas Foley and his wife, Wendy all of Charlotte, NC; Julia Foley Morgan and her husband, David of Augusta, GA, Elizabeth Foley Meckast and her husband, Scott of Suwane, GA; great grandchildren Anne and Neal Morgan, Andrew Meckast, Claudia and Jacob Foley , and Georgia Marie Foley (named for her great grandmothers).
A private graveside service will be held in Belmont Abbey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Holy Angels Nursery, 418 N. Main St., Belmont, NC 28012.
