Sumner County Farmer Succumbs At Wichita

CALDWELL - May 11 - Ernest Enderud, age 37, prominent farmer of the Caldwell Community, died early Monday morning at the Wesley hospital after a two months ailment. He was taken to the hospital nine days ago.

Enderud was born at Scandia, Kans., and has lived in the Caldwell community since 1913, making many friends here since boyhood.

He is survived by his young wife, Mrs. Bessie Dymacek Enderud, and a small daughter, two months old; his father, C. O. Enderud; two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Larson of South Dakota, and Cora of the home address; three brothers, Roy of Attica, Olaf of South Haven and Albert of Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church, with Rev. J. P. Sinclair in charge. Burial will be in the Caldwell Cemetery.

Ernest Ludvig Enderud was born at Scandia, Kansas, February 21, 1899, and died at the Wesley Hospital Wichita, Kansas, May 11, 1936, aged 37 years, 2 months and 21 days. When a boy he came to Caldwell district with his parents and has resided here since, being at the time of his death, a farmer with his father. He was the third son of Carl O. Enderud. His mother, Mrs. Anna Enderud, passed away on 1923.

On March 14, 1934, the deceased was united in marriage to Bessie Dymacek. To this union there was born one daughter, Ernesta Jane, who is now 9 weeks old. Mr. Enderud took sick March 1, and was taken to the Wesley hospital, Wichita, where he passed away. He leaves to mourn his untimely passing, his widow, Mrs. Bessie Enderud and infant daughter Ernesta Jane; his father, Carl O. Enderud; two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Larson of Fairview, South Dakota, and Cora, at home; three brothers, Olaf of near South Haven, Roy of Attica, Kansas, and Albert at Caldwell; two uncles, Herman Enderud of Fowler, Colo., (who was here for the funeral), and Louis Enderud of Portland, Oregon. His passing is mourned, not only by his immediate family circle but by all in the community who knew him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 13, at the Caldwell Presbyterian Church, with Rev. J. P. Sinclair in charge. Mr. Sinclair used as his text, John 11:25. Mrs. Robert Davis and Mrs. C.H. Detrick sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Rock of Ages", and "Till We Meet Again, " accompanied by Ruth Terwilliger at the organ. Burial was in the Caldwell cemetery. Pallbearers were W. Husch, J. Husch, Clyde Walker, Peter Polivka, Milford Dial, and LaPorte Campbell.
