Amanda was the last born of six children born to Michael Eugene and Christiana Zimmerman. She married William Paxton Anderson, a Civil War veteran who fought for the Union. She was his second wife. She bore him one child, a son, Hugh, on 14 June 1892. They lived in Norton, Kansas until her husband's death. He is buried in Norton. After his death she moved with her spinster, second oldest sister, Jennie, first to Colorado Springs, Colorado, then to Upland, California, where they lived together until Jennie's death in 1946. Amanda survived to age ninety-nine.
