Donald P. Cackley, 52, Keokuk, Iowa, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, February 28, at his home.

Funeral services were held Thursday at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Reuss officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

Cackley was born, April 12, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of William Eston and Alma Pearson Cackley.

He married Dorothy Ann Stewart on June 14, 1969, at First Lutheran Church in Keokuk, Iowa.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church; a graduate of Keokuk Senior High School; managed the Cackley Sinclair Service Station prior to serving in the United States Army, participating in the Vietnam Conflict. As an employee of Shellor Globe Corp., he was a member of the United Rubber Workers Local 444.

He had served on the Keokiuk Fire Department for 21 years since October 4, 1971, and was an active member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 568. He was a member of American Legion Post 41, National Rifle Association, Hancock County Chapter of Quail Unlimited, and a former member of the Prairie States Leather Guild.

He was noted for his interest in horses, hunting, and his skills as an accomplished leathercraftsman.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cackley, Keokuk; two sons, Dustin Cackley of Sierra Army Deport, Herlong, Ca., Damon Cackley of the home; one brother, G. William Cackley of Hanna City, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Douglas (Marilyn Schroder of Las Vegas, Nv.; one aunt, Ople Wilson of Centerville, Iowa; several nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the Elevator Fund at First Lutheran Church, the National Rifle Association, or to an educational fund for his sons.
