Mr. Alves was a member of the Cranston Portuguese Club, the sporting Club of Lisbon, Portugal, Sportingista of RI and a member of Foster grandparents (at the Training School) for 27 years. He was a Maintenance man for Budlong Thread & Elastics for 15 years before retiring in 1979.
He leaves a son Jose C.P. Alves, Sr. of Cranston and a daughter Maria E. Joseph of Johnston, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He also leaves a longtime companion Lele the cat. He was brother of the late Alvino and Anibal 'Andy' August.
