ALVES, JOSE 93, of Cranston, died Tuesday at Morgan Health Center. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, a son of the late Francisco and Maria Rosa (Amaral) Alves, he came to this country in 1960. He was the husband of the late Turibia (Miguel) Alves.
Mr. Alves was a member of the Cranston Portuguese Club, the sporting Club of Lisbon, Portugal, Sportingista of RI and a member of Foster grandparents (at the Training School) for 27 years. He was a Maintenance man for Budlong Thread & Elastics for 15 years before retiring in 1979.
He leaves a son Jose C.P. Alves, Sr. of Cranston and a daughter Maria E. Joseph of Johnston, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He also leaves a longtime companion Lele the cat. He was brother of the late Alvino and Anibal 'Andy' August.
