Alice Nelson Anderson Dimmie died at her home of 65 years in Palmyra, Virginia, on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the age of 96.

She was born the daughter of the late Alma Anderson on November 16, 1912, and was married in 1935 to the late Robert F. Dimmie Sr. for 30 years.

During her life, Alice was a mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and a great- great-grandmother. She did domestic work and retired from Staley's Manufacturing Company in Fluvanna County as a custodian. Alice was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Palmyra, Virginia, and served as a church clerk, deaconess, church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and missionary. She also served as a charter member of the Eastern Star Poinsettia Chapter #222.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Dimmie Sr.; daughter, Frances Juanita Dimmie Curtis; three brothers, Cleveland Anderson, Maynard Anderson, and Barbara Johnson; and one sister, Ethel Owens.

She is survived by two sons, Gene of Palmyra, Virginia, and Robert Jr. of Washingtonville, New York; five sisters, two brothers, four grandsons, one granddaughter, seven great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

On Friday, July 24, 2009, there was an open viewing with a Wake at Thomasson's Funeral Home Chapel, 4002 James Madison Highway, Route 15, Fork Union, Virginia.

The funeral service was held Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Palmyra, Virginia. Repast followed.
