Henry was born in Kresgeville on June 23, 1936, the son of the late William E. Burger Sr. and Julia (Serfass) Burger.
He was the husband of the late Marie A. (Rehrig) Burger, who passed away Aug. 14, 1995.
He served his country with dedication and courage in the U.S. Air Force.
Henry owned and operated Burger's Meat Market on Hahn's Dairy Road in Palmerton for more than 25 years until retiring.
He was a member of Local 542 Operating Engineers in Allentown.
We are thankful for the blessings and the joy that Henry has shared with us and he will be deeply missed by his daughter, Lora Naratil of Palmerton; his companion, Robin Behler of Palmerton; his granddaughter, Jade Burger; his sisters Ida Kresge of Gilbert, Lillian Dorshimer and her husband, William, of Kunkletown, Sadie Smith of Effort, Elmira "Dolly" Miller and her husband, Fred, of Kunkletown, Mabel Bonser and her husband, LeRoy, of Saylorsburg, Sue Beers and her husband, Earl, of Kunkletown and Rose Smith and her husband, Kenneth, of Saylorsburg; his brothers William Burger and his wife, Irene, of Kunkletown, Harry Burger and his wife, Arlene, of Kunkletown, Stanley Burger and his wife, Joan, of Kunkletown and Roger Burger and his wife, Sandy, of Kunkletown; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his extended family: Lonnie Behler and his wife, Vickie, and their sons, Lonnie "Bubs" and Tobie, who both called him pappy and brought him tremendous joy, and Kevin Behler and his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters, Casey and Torie, all of Palmerton.
He loved his dogs Woggie and Shaggy.
Henry was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Burger; a son-in-law, Roger Naratil; and five brothers, Robert, David, George, Frank and John Burger.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. David Felker officiating.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, until the time of service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Towamensing Cemetery in Palmerton.
