Son of Milton M Altemose and Ellamanda "Amanda" Meckes.

William Harlen Altemose was christened 18 Oct 1893 at Salem Union Church, Gilbert, Monroe Co., Pennsylvania.

William and Gayla May Lamonda (daughter of Frank Lamonda and Blanche Smith) were married 20 May 1923 at the parsonage of the Gilbert Church by Rev. F. W. Smith (Carbon Co. marriage license #15905). In 1923 they were both living at Albrightsville, PA.

2. Helen Lorraine Altemose b. 1927
3. Donald Lee Altemose b. 1930
4. a Son who married Ms. Dyson

By 1942 William was living at Long Pond where he engaged in farming. Sometime after 1957 he moved to Effort in Chestnuthill Twp. He was a member of the Lutheran faith. He was a Christmas tree dealer for 53 years, a farmer at Long Pond for 40 years, and engaged in the huckleberry business for many years. He attended Fairview Academy at Brodheadsville and was a teacher for eight years at Meckesville. William was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jim Thorpe, the Western Pocono Lions Club, the Pocono Mountain School District building authority and a former member of the Tunkhannock Township school board.

He died at Brookmont Acres at Effort, PA and is buried in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. (Obit in Lehighton "Times News", 23 August 1977, p. 14; Monroe Co. estate file #45-77-217)
