Cleland N. Conwell, age 92, of Globe, Arizona passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, at Odyssey Healthcare in Mesa, Arizona. Cleland was born on June 12, 1916 in Bisbee, Arizona, the son of Elia (Neeper) and Edward Conwell.
He graduated from Idaho Springs High School in 1934, and went to the University of Colorado in Boulder where he received a degree in mining engineering.
He was a retired Navy Lt. Commander, a shiner in the Fairbanks Lodge, and a past Exalted Ruler of Pinal Mt. Elks Lodge. Cleland will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sons Cle Conwell and Vinton Jameson.
Cleland N. Conwell leaves behind in loving memory his wife Betty of 49 years, daughter Shirley Stromberg and her husband Don, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

The funeral was held on Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at the Miles Funeral services Globe Chapel.
Interment with Military Honors took place at Globe Cemetery, Hackney Avenue, Globe, Arizona.
