Agnes Chilek Polasek, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 13, 2007, at 12:16 p.m., in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 6 days.

She was born Jan. 7, 1915, to John and Annie Kutac Chilek in Picosa in Wilson County, Texas. She attended the Picosa School..

Agnes married August E. Polasek on Oct. 24, 1939, in Floresville, They were married for more than 66 years. August preceded Agnes in death on April 11, 2006.

A farmer and homemaker, Agnes was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville and the K.J.Z.T.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward August Polasek on Jan. 31, 2007; and brothers Val Chilek, Lambert Chilek, Steve Chilek, and Stanley Chilek.

Agnes is survived by her sons, James B. Polasek and wife Elaine, and Robert “Bobby” Polasek and wife Lillian, all of Floresville; a daughter-in-law, Edna Woitena Polasek of Floresville; grandchildren Edward Polasek Jr., Michael Polasek, Stephen Polasek, Denise Sendemer, Dawn Barnett, Patricia Coronado, Jason Polasek, and Sara Polasek; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation began at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, and a rosary, led by Madeline Polasek,
was recited at 7 p.m in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with Father Stefan Wiera as celebrant. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Chilek, Brett Barnett, Albert Chilek, Ray Polasek, Robert Polasek, and Jason Polasek. Honorary pallbearers were Agnes’ grandchildren, Edward Polasek Jr., Michael Polasek, Stephen Polasek, Denise Sendemer, Dawn Barnett, Patricia Coronado, and Sara Polasek.
