A resident of Greenwell Springs, Mrs. Viola Thibodeaux Achord, 75, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Mrs. Achord was born May 12, 1933, in Greenwell Springs, a daughter of the late Andrew Arsane Thibodeaux Sr. and Bertha Carpenter Thibodeaux. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Thibodeaux Abbott, Carolyn Thibodeaux and Thelma Thibodeaux Chapman; and two brothers, Andrew Arsane Thibodeaux Jr. and Ray Thibodeaux. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Denham Springs. Mrs. Achord retired in 2004 from Central High School, where she worked in the cafeteria for more than 20 years. Mrs. Achord is survived by her loving husband, Samuel H. Achord Sr., to whom she was married for 57 years; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robert Roppolo; sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel Jr. and Valerie Achord, James "Buddy" Achord, and Aubrey and Darlene Achord; sister and brother-in-law, Mavis and Gary Wise; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. Her grandsons, Josh Poppolo, Sam Henry, Dustin Achor, Garren Achord, Brandon Achord, B.J. Thibodeaux, Anthony Stinson and Corey Cochran will serve as pallbearers.
