On the 19th of September 1944 1st Lieutenant Kenn Covey was killed in action on the northside of the Duivelsberg (Devil's Hill) near Berg en Dal, The Netherlands. He was together with Lieutenants John Foley and Bill Call when they were taking heavy machinegun fire coming from the Smorenhoek. The three had to take cover and dived down. Lieutenant Covey stayed down without moving and when Call and Foley approached him and turned him around they saw that he was shot between his eyes and was killed instantly.
