Born Jan. 31, 1894, in Plattsmouth, Neb., to John and Frances Gagermeier, he moved with his family to Glendive at age 8. He attended grade and high school there. His father taught him shoemakeing.
On Sept. 3, 1918, he married Agnes Andrews in Glendive.
He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1956. In 1958 he moved to Missoula.
Mr. Gagermeier was a member of the Glendive Moose Lodge. He enjoyed reading, gardening and playing the harmonica.
Four sisters and an infant daughter preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife and son, Louis Jr., both of Missoula; a daughter, Dorothy Ayre, Bilings, a sister, Theresa Colvin, Glendive, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren
