He was born in Altoona, son of the late Clifford and Edna (Knipple) Brown. He married Emmaline Pearl Garman in 1942 in Winchester, Va. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Surviving are two sons: Robert Stanley Jr. and wife, Nora Ellen, of Land O' Lakes, Fla., and Richard Glenn and wife, Kathleen, of Altoona; four grandchildren: Jeff, Sean, Kelly and Mike; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Tom, Joe and Jim; and a sister.
Bob was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He retired from Conrail in 1980 after 36 years of service as a carpenter/welder.
Mr. Brown was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and formerly of Fifty-Eighth Street United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer driver for the Blair Senior Services' Meals on Wheels program for 15 years.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Blair Senior Services' Meals on Wheels Program, 1320 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
