BODENSCHATZ - James J., 63, Sidman, died July 11, 2007, at home. Born July 27, 1943, son of Edward J. and Margaret M. "Meg" (Rooney) Bodenschatz. Preceded in death by mother; infant brother, John; and infant sister, Mary Margaret.

Survived by father, Laurelwood Care Center; wife, the former Marianne Handel; daughter, Molly J., wife of Scott Balthaser, Philadelphia; and a son, James "Jay", Philadelphia. Brother of Colleen, wife of Timothy Warner, Johnstown; Thomas, married to Deborah Strayer, Summerhill; Raymond, married to Barbara Kopco, Summerhill; Suzie, wife of Raymond Chopper, Harrisburg; Rose, wife of Tom Atkins, Shrewsburg; Della, wife of Steve Braverman, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; Pamela, wife of Robert LaRoche, Center Barnstead, N. H.; Kevin, married to Cathy Makin, Johnstown; and Elizabeth, wife of Dan Alexander, Tampa, Fla. Also a brother-in-law, Joseph Handel, Johnstown.

James was a 1961 graduate of Adams-Summerhill High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as a fuel engineer, then worked for J. Pitt Steel. Current employee of the Reserve Group at the Gautier Plant. Member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, Saint Michael.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where vigil for the deceased will be held Friday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Michael Church. Committal, Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson. Military graveside service by Saint Michael American Legion Post 551.
