She was born to John and Bessie Beach on August 6, 1926 in Rogers City, attended the Port Huron schools, graduating from Port Huron High School in 1944, and married Lyle H. Rinker on October 25, 1947 in Port Huron.
Betty was a long time member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church where earlier she had been a member of the Walther League. She was currently a member of the church's Concordia Club and the A.C.T.I.O.N. Group which makes items for nursing homes and foster children homes. She was also a member of the May O'Brien Post #8465 VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Timothy (Estrella) Rinker and James (Elene "Lee") Rinker, both of Port Huron; her daughter, Deborah A. (Stephen) Vaught of Battle Creek; three grandchildren, Kathleen Elizabeth (Thomas) Wojciakowski, Jamie Vaught and Eric Rinker; a greatgranddaughter, Kasey Elizabeth Wojciakowski; five brothers and sisters, Margot Ann (Arthur) Boerre of Marysville, William Beach of Houghton Lake, Donald (Joyce) Beach of Marysville, Marian Koch of Port Huron and David (Karen) Amon of Lapeer; six sistersinlaw, Louise Beach of Port Huron, Amy Beach of Lexington, SC, Sally (Guy) Provost of Port Huron, Betty (Vern) Pickard of North Street and Lois Allington and Shirley Brown, both of St. Clair; a brotherinlaw, Donald Porter of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, who passed away September 15, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Frank Amon; three brothers, Jack, Kenny and Bobby Beach; her sister, Jean Porter; a brotherinlaw, Kenneth Koch; and a sisterinlaw, Betty Jean Beach.
