BIOGRAPHY
William H Ennest, teacher and farmer, resident on section 36, Washington Township, was born Jan 28, 1851 in Oxford Co, Ont. He is the eldest child in his father's family, and been a resident of Sanilac County since he was 15 years of age. He attended the common schools until the age of 13 years, when he was sent to the academy at Woodstock, Can, and was a student there two years. He adopted the profession of teaching, which he has followed since 1869. He is the proprietor of 44 acres of cleared and cultivated land, which is his homestead.
His parents, George and Amanda (Mitchelson) Ennest, were natives of the State of New York. After their marriage they settled in Canada, where the wife and mother died. After that loss, the father removed to Sanilac County (in 1866), and settled where he still resided, in Washington Township. He married again and the issue of his second union included five children. William H. and Minnie J. are the children of his first wife.
Mr. Ennest of this sketch was married in Sarnia, Ont., March 17, 1874 to Laura C. Potts. She was born in Lexington Township, Dec 19, 1851. Their Children were born as follows: Ralph H., July 7, 1876, Carrie, Oct. 30, 1878, Mary, Sept 8 1883.
Mr. Ennest political opinions are in accord with those of the Republican party. He has been active in official school positions. His wife belongs to the Methodist Episcopal Church.

OBITUARY
W.H. ENNEST FUNERAL HELD
Carsonville, Oct 14, ---- William H. Ennest, who died last week was born in Canada, January 29, 1850, where he lived until seventeen years of age when he came to this country, taking up his residence in Sanilac county where he lived until thirteen years ago when he moved to Posen. He was 70 years old at the time of his death.
He was united in marriage to Laura C. Potts and to this union were born three sons and three daughters, Ralph H, of Carsonville; Myron J. of Palms, Mich; Harley, of Posen, Mich, Mrs. Frank Reed, of Carsonville; Mrs. Frank J. Adams, of Rogers City, Mich, and Mrs. Norvell Young of Detroit. These with the widow and one sister, Mrs. Jake Van Natter, survive.
Mr. Ennest taught school in Sanilac county for 32 years, and was a county examiner for four years. He was also manager of the Applegate bank for 4 years and established a bank at Posen, Mich., also the Sachene Bank at Alpena. The last four years of his life he was county road commissioner at Presque Isle county. In is fraternal life he was a Mason and Odd Fellow, being a member of the Alpena Lodge.
Funeral services were held from the M. M. church Tuesday, Rev McKenzie assisted by Rev. Gawn, officiated. Interment at Washington Cemetery
