Perry Township/Mt. Horeb-
Harold R. Knudtson, age 84 of Perry Township, WI died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the same home where he was born on December 12, 1921 to Albert & Mabel (Rundhaug) Knudtson.

He graduated from Forward School and then worked on area farms until he was drafted during World War II on August 14, 1942. He was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 137th Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. On December 30, 1944, he was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and held prisoner in Germany. The British Army liberated him April 29, 1945. He came home on the Queen Mary in June and was honorably discharged December 9, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Prisoner of War Medal and many others.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Post, the Battle of Bulge Group,
and Badger Ex-POW.

He married Gladys Rostad on August 14, 1946 at Spring Perry Lutheran Church in rural DeForest. They farmed until his retirement but continued to help his son with the farm work.

Harold was a life long member of Perry Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Gladys,
his children: Raymond (Ann) Knudtson of Oconomowoc,
Elaine Knudtson of Middleton,
Curtis (Susan) Knudtson of Elkhorn,
Wayne Knudtson of Mt. Horeb,
a sister: Irene Valstad of Mt. Horeb,
his grandchildren: Adam, Erick, Kaitlyn, Emily, Abigail, Suzanne, Alida, Noah Knudtson,
Mary (Fred) Zirzow, nieces, nephews, cousins,
two sisters-in-law: Beatrice and Dorothy Knudtson and many friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Everett, Wallace and Albert, Jr.;
two sisters: Leona Stamn and Alvena Moen, and a son-in-law: Daniel Knudtson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, WI with Rev. Hans Floan7 officiating. Burial will be at Perry Lutheran Church Cemetery.
