She Was One of the Oldest Women in Northern Part of County
The funeral of Mrs. Jane Merritt, widow of Nelson Merritt, was held at Arcadia Wednesday. The death of Mrs. Merritt occurred at her home in Arcadia Monday night. She was eighty four years of age and one of the oldest women in the northwest part of Hamilton county.
She had been in poor health since the death of her husband in March 1918, but was not confined to her bed until a few hours before her death. She was born November 29, 1835, being a daughter of Joseph and Sarah Wright. On January 27, 1861, she was married to Mr. Merritt and they resided on a farm northeast of Arcadia for many years. They were the parents of two children, both of whom died in infancy. They were identified with the Christian church at Omega, White River township.
