Aaron Winfred Andis, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow in Barton Cemetery.
Mr. Andis was a native of Delaplaine, Ark. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the GM V8 engine plant in Flint, Mich. Mr. Andis was a Mason, a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the UAW Local 659 in Flint, Mich., a member of Old Fashion Baptist Church, of Grand Blanc, Mich., and was active in the Ford City Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Nell Andis; son, Alan Wayne Andis; and daughter, Helen Marie Andis.
Survivors include his son, Winfred Dale Andis and wife, Denise; daughters, Dottie Lou Andis Wheeler and husband, Gary, and Patricia Gail Campbell and husband, Delvin; brothers, Donald Andis, Earl Andis and Leonard Andis; sisters, Alice Stevens, Edith Back and Pat Lopez; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are Joseph Thomas, Timothy Forbs, Bruce Forbs, Samuel Forbs, Terry Ross, Charlie Potoski, Douglas Shirley, Jeremy Andis and Jason Andis.
The family wishes to express special thanks to his friends at the Ford City Senior Citizens Center.
