M. Harvey Austin, son of Cecil and Florence Ward Austin was born January 10, 1929 in Mason City Iowa. The family lived on a farm in North Iowa where Harvey attended school before working as a farm hand for several area farmers. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Poole at the Little Brown Church in the Vail in Nashua on June 25, 1950. To this union, they would cherish two children, Harvey and Brenda.

The family lived in Iowa all of their life while Harvey worked for several companies as a heavy machine operator. For the last 40 years, he was employed at Weaver Construction, later known as Martin-Marriett Material where he had been promoted to a foreman, and later finished his career as a yard loader, retiring in 2009.

Harvey was a inspirational character that would give anyone a helping hand. He was one to give you a hard time, and would expect the same back. He was a jack of all trades, loved to tinker with all types of machinery, and enjoyed fishing. The past several years, he spent his winters in Texas and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his two children, Harvey (Sheila) Austin, Mason City and Brenda (Casey) Ryan, Packwood, IA; grandchildren, Alex Austin, Mason City, Mike Snyder, Waterloo, IA and Tia Skuster, Olie, IA; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Doug (LaDonna) Prime, Kellerton, IA, his sister-in-law, Joyce Austin, Garner along with his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, parents, grandson, Zachary Austin, and several brothers and sisters.
