Faye Henrietta McDowell was born on Saturday, April 17, 1920 in Woodward County, Mooreland, Oklahoma. Faye Henrietta McDowell is the sixth child of Earl Eugene and Tresa Agnes Vogt McDowell. Faye's Birth Certificate didn't have a name filled in at the time of her birth. Faye had to get an Amendment of Birth Certificate from the State of Oklahoma. An affidavit given by her mother, Tresa McDowell and the school records supplied by Edna Meyers were used as proof of name for the Birth Certificate. Faye grew up and went to school in the Mooreland, Oklahoma area. Faye was left-handed but could write with both hands. Faye wrote half way across the page with one hand and finished writing the line with the other hand. Faye Henrietta McDowell married Elmer Edward Berry in Mooreland, Woodward County, Oklahoma by George Dipert, Justice of the Peace, on July 19, 1939 and in the presence of John Lehman of Woodward, Oklahoma and Leona Lehman of Woodward, Oklahoma. Faye lived in the Mooreland, Oklahoma and the Medicine Lodge, Kansas areas after her marriage. Faye and Elmer have three children: Marquita Marie, Donald Eugene and Margaret Jo. Faye and Elmer moved their family to Galion, Ohio in 1956.
Faye was killed in a car accident on October 21, 1967 near Galion, Ohio. Faye was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mansfield General Hospital about 8:20 p.m. Elmer was in the same accident and died a day later on October 22, 1967 in the same Hospital. Services for Faye & Elmer were on Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. October 25, 1967 at the Volk-Richardson Funeral Home in Galion, Ohio. The Clergyman Officiating was Rev. Donald J. Voelm and the interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Crawford County, Galion, Ohio.
