“CHARLES O’NEAL IS NO MORE

Charles O’Neal, Jr. the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. O’Neal Sr., one of the best known residents of the hill country, particularly around O’Neals and Northfork, where he has resided for the past forty years and more, passed away Saturday night at the Burke Sanitarium in Sonoma county where he had been for about a month. Mr. O’Neal died from a disordered condition of the liver from which he had been suffering for three months or more before he passed away, and was bedfast for nearly three months. He was at the Burnett sanitarium in Fresno for several weeks and during the hot weather, it was thought advisable to take him to Sonoma county which was done. Physicians did not hold out much encouragement for his recovery and it was only a question of making him us comfortable as possible. His remains will be shipped to Fresno and will be interred, probably at Northfork near the old home, although no arrangements had been made for the funeral at this writing. Charlie O’Neal was born in Watsonville and was forty-seven years of age at the time of his death. When he was but four years of age his people moved to this part of the state and settled at what has since been known as O’Neals. The deceased made his home there and has been a resident of this county most of his life. He has been a very robust, hard working man and has scarcely seen a sick day during his entire life. He was a man liked by everybody and was a good husband and father. He leaves a wife and one son by a former marriage. There are also two sisters, Mrs. Miller of San Bernardino and Mrs. W. A. Ellis of Northfork two brother, John and Spence, both residing in this county.”
