WAKEFIELD, Louisa HAINES - In the death of Mrs. Louisa Haines Wakefield, who passed away on Tuesday, July 22nd, 1924, another of Bentonville's oldest citizens has gone beyond. Death was due to old age and a complication of diseases. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam B. Maxwell, where she has made her home for some time past. The funeral services, which were largely attended Wednesday afternoon, were held at the Maxwell home, the Rev. O.A. Fortune, pastor of the M.E. Church, officiating. Interment was in the Cit Cemetery. Mrs. Wakefield is survived by three children - a son, J.C. Wakefield of Ozark, Ark. and two daughters, Mrs. Sam B. Maxwell and Mrs. J.S. Black, both of this city. Louisa Haines was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio in 1847. The family later moved to Fairplay, Missouri, where she later married J.H. Wakefield. Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield and their three children moved to Bentonville in 1884 which has since been their home. Mr. Wakefield died about 20 years ago. Mrs. Wakefield was a devout Christian and a member of the M.E. Church to which organization she was ever faithful even to the end. Being possessed of a very bright mind and a most kindly and lovable disposition she endeared herself to everyone who had the good fortune of her acquaintance. She spoke no ill of anyone and none spoke of her except to praise her noble qualities. Surely "a mother in Israel" has gone from us and entered into the joys of eternal life.
