She was born July 2, 1926 in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of J. Blaine and Gwendolyn (Oberlin) Ankeney.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence "Bud" Filson; three sisters: Mary Katherine Keehn, Eleanor Bone and Clara Belle Revoir; and a brother: Harold W. Ankeney.
She is survived by a large extended family of loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Betty is also survived by her dear friend and college roommate, Dorothy Weidinger. She graduated from Beavercreek High School and Wilmington College. Betty was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Kettering and Beavercreek School Systems. After her retirement, she and her husband, resided in Grand Island, Florida for 19 years. She was an avid college basketball fan and enjoyed gardening. She was also a member of the Beaver United Church of Christ and the Xenia Senior Citizens.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Brian Eastman officiating.
