Celia was born in 1914 to Beverly "Bev" Burton and Lenora "Nora" Fisher Linhart, probably in Conway, Arkansas. Her mother was of Blackfoot heritage, and her father German. She was a child when the family moved to Dunklin County, Missouri. There, she married Arthur Nathaniel Cupp, on August 23, 1929. She was fifteen.

Arthur was a Pentacostal preacher, and served at churches around Dunklin County. They lived in Bucoda for many years. Celia and Arthur had four children: Donald Lee, James Arthur, Anna Louise (my grandmother), and Joel Lee. Donald was killed at the age of seven--a bad storm came up, and the whole family ran outside to get the horses in the barn. Donald was struck by lightning and died; Celia was badly burned as she was reaching for him.

Arthur died in 1964. Celia later moved to Flint, Michigan, where her children were living in the 1970s and 1980s. She taught Sunday school, and is remembered by her grandchildren as a loving and giving person. I never knew her personally; my parents were expecting me and never got the chance to tell her before she died. My dad (her grandson) and mom have always told me how they wished I had known her. Celia died in 1984 in Flint, Michigan.
