HARDEEVILLE, SC - Betty Carter Buckner, 82 of Hardeeville, SC and widow of John Ramsey Buckner Jr. passed away at her home on Saturday, January 3, 2015. She was born in Miley, South Carolina on April 11, 1932. She is the daughter of the late Harry H. Carter and Virginia Godley Carter.

She was retired from First Union Bank in Hardeeville. She was a member of the Hardeeville Baptist Church and a member of Edgar Mole Chapter OES in Hardeeville. She was an avid gamecock fan and followed the team all the way to Hawaii for the bowl game as well as locally.

She traveled to Europe with her husband, John who was a P. O.W. during World War II to visit sites where he was held as a prisoner. She was a devoted Elvis fan.

She is survived by her daughter Ann Buckner Day of Hardeeville, SC; her grandchild, Heather Scott Boggess (Fred) of Beaufort and great grandchildren, Courtney Bullard, Johnathan Bullard and Bobby Redding. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry H. Carter Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland with burial in Purrysburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm until the hour of the service. The family request memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warriors in memory of Betty Buckner.
