Grace Mae Haines, 95, died December 18, 2014 at the Sigourney Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born December 4, 1919 to Raymond and Nellie Wiseman Messerschmitt near Hedrick. She attended school in Hedrick. On July 12, 1937 she married John Andrew Haines in Lancaster, Missouri. They lived in Des Moines, Grinnell and Keokuk County. She was employed at Westside Café, Dairyland, and the Keokuk County Home. In later years Grace answered the phone for her husband's business.

She was preceded in death by her husband John on August 8, 1994, two sons Richard and John Haines, her daughter Janice Lanman, two grandsons, one sister Marie Claypool, two brothers Robert and Raymond Messerschmitt.

She is survived by her children Mildred Jean Harris of What Cheer, Mary (Ron) Hollingsworth of Galva, Illinois, Frances(Dean)Schropp of Willimsburg, Shirley Joan Hodgson of Grinnell, many grandchildren , great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a sister in law Betty Kelm of Grinnell.

Funeral Service: Monday 10:30 am Holm Funeral Home-Sigourney. Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery-Martinsburg, Iowa. Visitation: Sunday 3-5 pm. A memorial fund has been established.
