Mrs. Babcock was formerly Miss Clara Matilda Swank. She was born in Rose Hill, June 27, 1892, a daughter of the late John and Rebecca Swank. She resided in Rock Island county most of her lifetime. She was married to Milton Babcock in Chicago, on Dec. 24, 1910. Mrs. Babcock was of Lutheran faith.
Survivors include the widower; a son, Sgt. John M. Babcock, stationed at Fort Crook, Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. William Luchman of Moline, and Mrs. Laura Long and Mrs. Charles Meehan, both of Rock Island; three brothers, Frank Swank of Chicago, David Swank of Turtle Lake, Wis., and Samuel Swank of Rock Island, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Babcock were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in Knox-Trimble funeral home, with Dr. Walter A. Tilberg of Trinity Lutheran church, officiating. Burial was in Rock Island Memorial Park cemetery.
Mrs. John Jacobs was soloist and Mrs. Clifford Doxy played the organ. Pallbearers were Ed Jenkinson, Dewey Epner, Harold Yeager, Ted Evers, Bert Crockett and Otto Schweinberger.
