Amos A. Meyer, son of Daniel and Bena (Stratmeyer) Meyer, was born July 25, 1921 at Chancellor, SD. He attended country schools at Chancellor, Tea, and rural Sioux Falls before attending Washington High School.

He was united in marriage with Lillian Gibson on September 12, 1942 in Sioux Falls. Amos worked for John Morrell & Co. for a brief period before serving in the U.S. Army during WW II. Following the war he returned to Morrell's where he worked for 41 ½ years retiring in 1983. After traveling for several years he started working as a grocery sacker at Sunshine Foods part-time.

Amos' hobbies included bowling, traveling, and going to coffee with friends.

He was a member of First Reformed Church and the American Legion.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lillian M. Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD; two sons, Dennis (Carol) Meyer, Oakland, NE, Douglas (Cindy) Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia May, Sioux Falls, SD, Sylvia (David) Walker, Denver, CO; one brother, Roger (Diana) Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Amos was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandchild, Jessica Bingen; a brother, Elmer; and two sisters, Gladys Meyer and Theda Ritter.
