Wilson Edmund Elliott, 75, pioneer purebred Jersey cattle breeder in Humboldt county died at his home near Loleta this morning.

He was born in Mono Lake, California, in Mono county, November 23, 1875. He operated his ranch near Loleta for 45 years and retired five years ago. He had been ill for some time.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. C.R. Shaffer of Merced, Miss Dorothea Elliott and Miss Doris Elliott, both of Loleta; a niece, Mrs. W.R. Petersen of Arbuckle, California; three nephews, Elliott Shaffer of Loleta, Dr. Stanley Shaffer, Merced, and Keith Shaffer, Santa Cruz.

He was a member of the Eel River lodge, F. and A.M. of Fortuna and of the Royal Arch Masons, Ferndale, and for several years was a director of the Federal Land Bank. He was the oldest member of the Purebred Jersey Cattle club in Humboldt and was believed to be the first purebred Jersey breeder in Humboldt county. He was a past director and past president of the Humboldt county fair.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Citizens' chapel in Ferndale with the Rev. Kenneth Samuelson officiating and interment in the Ferndale cemetery with rites in charge of the Masonic lodge.

Wilson was the son of Ella S. Gish and her second husband, Wilson Edmund Elliott; Sr.
