Wenzel Gottlick emmigrated from the village of Hayd, province of Tachau, formerly part of the Austrian-Hungary Empire. Also called the Sudentenland, this rural region is part of present-day Czech Republic. He was the first Gottlick from my family to come to the USA. He married Margaret Anna Oechsner on Nov. 5, 1871 and the 2 lived on a farm in Stony Hill, NJ.

Many of his family moved to Westfield, NJ, where descendents are found today. The Gottlick family is associated with Holy Trinity Church in Westfield.

Francis Joseph Gottlick, the nephew of Wenzel and from the same village, also emmigrated to NJ.
