Allyn H. Hunter, 87, of Moline, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center.
Allyn Hunter was born Sept 13, 1916, in East Moline, the son of Asbury and Rebecca Little Hunter. He married Berneita Swiger on Sept. 24, 1944 in East Moline.
Mr. Hunter graduated from United Township High School, East moline, in 1934. He was employed by John Deere Harvester for 42 years and worked the majority as an Industrial Engineer. He retired in 1977.
During the 1940's he had a dance band, "Allyn Hunter & His Music for Modern's", that played throughtout the Midwest. Mr. Hunter was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. He was also a life member of the East Moline Masons Lodge No. 969, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Moline.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Berneita Hunter, Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jake Daniels, Brown Deer, Wis.; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Toni Hunter, Silvis; son-in-law and spouse, Terry and Jenny Thompson, Fairfield, Ill.; grandchildren and spouse, Claire and Brian Stanley, Sarah Thompson and Matthew Thompson, all of Charleston, S.C.; stepgranddaughters, Angie Hays, Bloomington, Ill., Lezlee Hays, Davenport; Step great-grandson, Gavin McLeod; and sister, Dorothy Carpentier, East moline. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Nan Thompson, who died Feb. 22, 1997, his parents, two sisters and seven brothers.
