Gartley J. Zemer, Jr., age 82, passed away on March 17, 1997. He was born on July 2, 1914 in Cook Co., IL, the son of John Gartley and Pearl M. Mowers Zemer, and had been a resident of Lansing most of his life. He was a member of Peoples Church of East Lansing; a 1932 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School; attended Michigan State University and Lansing Business University; and was employed with the Board of Water and Light for 40 years, retiring in 1977 as Stores Keeper. He was founder and an officer of the Board of Water and Light retirees Club; and was associated with Curtis Drugs for 24 years. He was a life member of Lansing Lodge # 196, B. P. O. Elks; and a member of the board of Directors of Lansing Municipal Employees Credit Union. A man of honor and integrity with total devotion in the loving care of his wife of 60 years, Helen E. Also surviving are daughter, Gartha Lee (Dr. David) Angus of Lansing; son, Max G. (Jaqueline) Zemer of Lansing; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Georgia McDonnell of Danville, IL; several nieces and nephews.
