Albert was the third of four children born to Charles Carroll and Mary Ouisa (Odle)Ice.
Albert Ice laid to Rest
Rev. R. N. Johnstone of the Methodist Church of Roundup conducted funeral services Tuesday for Albert Ice 71, long-time Golden Valley county resident.
Albert passed away Saturday morning, August 9th, at his home of a heart attack.
Services were conducted in Ryegate Methodist Church with burial in the Ryegate cemetery.
Music was by Rev. and Mrs. James Edmundson who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Under His Wings." They were accompanied by Nat Allen on the organ.
Pallbearers were George Gasoway of Ennis, Mont., Emil Wagner, Glenn Reed, Noah Walters, James Cox and Hugh Willson, all of Ryegate.
Mr. Ice was born March 13, 1887 at Frankfort, Illinois, the son of Charles and Louisa Ice. At the age of 9 her moved to Thompsonville, Illinois.
He married in Thompsonville to Ethel Mae Mitchell on January 24, 1907. To this union were born one son and 3 daughters.
The family moved to Montana in 1915 where Albert was engaged in farming in the Big Coulee until 1946 when he sold his ranch and has since continued ranching with his son-in-law south of Ryegate.
He served for 20 years as Golden Valley County Commissioner and served on the Selective Service Board during World War II. For the past ____years he has been a member of the Ryegate town council.
Albert was a member of the Methodist Church, joining at the Liberty Church near Thompsonville in 1915, and had been a member of the Masonic Order for 37 years.
Surviving are his widow, Ethel; a son Herman of Ryegate; 3 daughters, (Madge Mrs. John Vander Voort of Ryegate; (Vera Jean) Mrs Lester Hall of Billings; (Audrey) Mrs. Clinton Cain of Harlowton; 9 granddaughters and 1 grandson, 3 great-grandsons, one sister Harriet Martin of Miami Springs, Florida and 3 half-sisters.
