Anchorage resident Mary Ellen Burger, 78, a former parachute stitcher, died April 27 at home. A funeral was at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel, preceded by a visitation at the chapel. Alfred Kehl officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
Mrs. Burger was born Nov. 3, 1913, in Thistle, Utah. She moved to Anchorage from San Diego in September 1986. She was an avid collector of newspaper articles and scrapbooks. She enjoyed writing in her journal about trips she made and enjoyed traveling, gardening, flowers, the outdoors and nature. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1986.
Mrs. Burger is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Ileen of Anchorage; her grandchildren, Terry Smith, Jean Bangle and Jeff Floyd, all of Anchorage; her brother, Alma Thomas of Sandy, Utah; her great-grandchildren, Amanda Dunlap, Gus Dunlap and Amy Jean Spohn, all of Anchorage, and Christena Floyd of Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family in care of Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory, P.O. Box 111127, Anchorage 99511-1127.
