Services for Clements W. "Speedy" Duncan, 81, of Killeen will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove with the Rev. Andy Papson officiating.

Burial will follow at Copperas Cove City Cemetery.

Duncan died June 11, 2005, in Killeen.

He was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Okay (Okay Community outside of Killeen) to Thomas P. and Rosa L. Duncan, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Oakalla Baptist Church.

He was a retired civil service employee at Fort Hood and had worked there for 32 years. He had served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was discharged Dec. 25, 1945. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, the Phillipine Liberation in the southern Philippines and in new Guinea, Luzon.

He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal and a Meritorious Unit Award Victory Medal with four overseas bars.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Copperas Cove and was an avid bowler and domino player.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margarete Duncan on April 3, 1992; three brothers, Vasco, Lige and Claude; and five sisters, May, Hattie, Josie, Jessie and Mattie.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Oakalla School.
