"Isaac L. Brubaker, 85, of 55 W. Franklin St., Ephrata, died at Ephrata Community Hospital at 8:30 p.m. Friday shortly after being admitted from Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron.

He had lived at Maple Farm for three months. He was a resident of Ephrata for eight years, and had previously lived in Denver.

He was the husband of Violet Witmyer Brubaker. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 2.

Born in Reinholds, he was a son of the late H. Lee and Ella Bard Brubaker.

He was a retired bricklayer.

In the 1920s and 1930s he was a semi-professional middleweight boxer who fought under the name Jim Baker.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he also boxed while in the service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Karen L., wife of Loran J. Getz, Denver; Gail A. Brubaker, New Holland; and Susan L., wife of Simon Campbell, Ephrata.

Also surviving are a son, Michael L., husband of Deborah K. Brubaker, Denver; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Clair B. Brubaker, Denver, and Mark B. Brubaker, Neffsville; and a sister, Kathryn Farlow, Hopeland."
