Bruce Collins, 19, sailor, sonar student in Navy

Services will be held today for Bruce L. Collins, 19, of San Jose, a U.S. Navy Enlisted man. Mr. Collins died Monday at the hospital in San Diego from injures suffered in a traffic accident. He was riding a motorcycle along Harbor Blvd when the vehicle went out of control and crashed into a roadway divider.

Born in Bakersfield and raised in San Jose, Mr. Collins graduated from Oak Grove High School, where he had been a member of the wrestling team. He entered military service after graduation and was attending the Navy's submarine Sonar school in San Diego. Mr. Collins was an active member of the First Assembly of God in San Jose.

He was the son of Jim and Dolores Collins of San Jose. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Jennifer and Cherie Collins, and Jeffrey Collins, all of San Jose.

Today's service is scheduled to being at 10:30am in the Oak Hill Funeral Home's Chapel of Roses. Burial will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
