John served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-17F # 42-30091 " Blivit ", 349th Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore County, Maryland prior to the war.

B-17F # 42-30091 took off on a bombing mission, however, right after they took off the mission was aborted and they were told to return to base.

For an unknown reason the B-17 dived and crashed on the butts of Eye near Ipswich-Norwich Road, Mid Suffolk District, England. The entire crew of " 10 " were lost.

John died in the "Line Of Duty" in this non-battle related crash during the war.
