Sergeant Edwin Forrest Allen, Jr. 13150792 US Army KIA. He was born on November 9, 1922, in New Jersey, the son of Edwin and Matilda Allen. He entered the US Army on November 3, 1942, at the age of 19. He was in the enlisted Reserve Corps while a physical education student at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa. In February 1943 began basic training at Camp Swift, Texas, with the 97th Division. Selected for A.S.T.P. in July of 1943 and sent to L.S.U. at Baton Rouge, and then sent to Lake Forest College. When the Army discontinued A.S.T.P. he was assigned to the Company G, 382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division. He was KILLED IN ACTION ON LEYTE OCTOBER 26, 1944. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, World War Two Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR and BRONZE ARROWHEAD, Presidential Memorial Certificate, PURPLE HEART MEDAL.
