Francis 'Franz' Blaschke, a 40 year old Tailor and resident of Egg Harbor City, NJ. enlisted on August 9 1861 in Philadelphia as a Private in Company A of the 75th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
He stood 5' 6 1/2" tall with gray eyes, gray hair, and fair complexion. He was wounded at Gettysburg on July 1st 1863 in the engagement north of town and the collapse of the Eleventh Corps line. He reenlisted on January 1 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. He suffered from blindness caused by exposure while in service.
