David Armfield MERIDIAN - Services for David J. Armfield, 40, Layton, Utah formerly of Meridian, who died Saturday at a Salt Lake City hospital after a long illness, were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Robison-Jerread Funeral Chapel, Meridian, by Bishop Jay Thurgood, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Interment will be in Dry Creek Cemetery. He was born Nov. 3, 1935, in Meridian, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Army for two years and served as a paratrooper in Japan. He joined (tie Air Force in 1958, served in Guam and Thailand and was stationed In Mountain Home from 1967 until 1971. He transferred to South Carolina and married Patricia Walker May 17, 1971, at Sumpter. S.C. He was given a medical discharge in 1974. Surviving is his wife, Layton: five sons. William R., Salt Lake City, Rodney E., Ogden. Charles, Bountiful, Utah. Calvin, Sunset, Utah, and Robert, Layton: two daughters. Carla, Layton, and Deborah, Boise; his parents. Mr. and Mrs. William R. Armfield, Meridian; four brothers. Gene. Seattle. Robert, Layton, and Martin and Steven, both Boise; two sisters, Irene Breier. Boise, and Janette Volquardsem, Meridian, and his grandmother. Hazel Newell, Meridian. A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
