Francis was daughter of Casper Hinkle & Catherine Francis Robertson. She was born in Rowen County, North Carolina. The family moved to Kentucky then Missouri in 1823.


Francis married Alexander Hinkle, 5 Dec 1825, Jackson, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.


Francis, Alexander and seven of their children traveled by ox teams across the plains. They arrived in Elliott Prairie October 1, 1852 and took up a donation land claim.


In 1884, at Elliott Prairie Francis Hinkle passed away. She is buried beside her husband at the Rock Creek cemetery.
