Florence — Lewis Archie Burns, Jr., 80, died February 6, 2008. He was born in Savannah, GA, the son of the late Lewis Archie Burns, Sr. and Claretta Reynolds Burns.
Mr. Burns was a graduate of Timmonsville High School and worked in sales most of his life in various capacities. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was member of The Church at Sandhurst.
Surviving are: three sons, John Marcus Burns (Penny), Florence, Thomas Gary Burns (Diana), Valdosta, GA, and Robert Gregory Hanks (Brenda), Austin, TX; two daughters, Patricia Wren Hanks, Olympia, WA, and Donna Katherine Combs, Edmond, OK; one step-son, Barry Craig Hewett (Donna), Florence; three step-daughters, Myrna Hewett Simmonds, Florence, Abby Hewett Gardner (Jerry), Tucker, GA, and Felecia Hewett Girton (Karl), Millville, PA; one sister, Neola Palmer, Norfolk, VA; two grandsons of Florence, Jordan Marcus Burns and Chandler Lewis Burns, thirteen other grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel directed by Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends following the service.
