Gladys Marie (Solmon) Collingwood Acaiturri, 94, died July 24, 2013, at a local care facility.

She was born on April 7, 1919, in Selfridge, ND to Lou and Alta (Davis) Solmon. The family left North Dakota during the dust bowl and moved to Tillamook, OR. There were subsequent moves, with the family finally settling in Payette, ID.

Gladys married Robert Merle Collingwood in 1936 and to this union three children were born: Jim, Bob, and Vickie. Gladys and Bob later divorced.

Gladys married Pete Acaiturri in 1978. During their marriage, they helped to raise Gladys' great grandson, Jeff Rynearson.

Gladys' happiest times were spent with her family, immediate and extended, whether gathered for a visit or camping in the great outdoors. Gladys loved little children and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an independent woman and a very hard worker. She held various jobs and ultimately was the proprietor of the Paddock Lounge in Payette for many years.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; son, Bob Collingwood; daughter, Vickie Collingwood; grandson, Brad Collingwood; brothers, Albert, Lloyd, Alvie and Lester Solmon; and sisters, Stella Wayne and Della Hopkins.

She is survived by her loving family: sister, Fern Ricci; son, Jim Collingwood (Barb); daughter-in-law, Anne Collingwood; grandchildren, Chris Collingwood (Vickie), Michelle Hollingsworth, Robb Collingwood, Amanda Collingwood, Tina Lugan (Troy), and Kari Galyen; her beloved great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews, who she considered her "other children"; as well as people special to her, Gloria Iannello, Barbara VanOcker and Nell Cruse.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mohandesi, Dr. Adcox, Wellsprings Assisted Living Facility, and Legacy Hospice for their kindness and care during Gladys' final years.

Shaffer-Jensen will be handling the burial arrangements. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
