Opal Mae Arnett Ackerman
Born and raised in Hamilton County, Nebraska, she attended 12 years of school there and married Terry Ackerman on March 23, 1942. Terry was inducted in to the U.S. Army right away and did not get to come home until his son, Terry Lee, was 2 years old.
Opal loved to cook and was a great one for her pies and donuts. She cooked at the JV. Café for years and cooked for the Governor of Arizona. She worked at the Chevron Motel for a few years where she made beds and cleaned rooms.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Terry, in 1986.
She is survived by her sons, Terry (Patty) Ackerman, of Ontario, Gary (Lynn) Ackerman, of Portland and Dwight (Christie) Ackerman, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, daughters, Kathy (Don) Oeleis, of Wallace, Idaho and Cindy (Del) Hussey, of Medford, Oregon, as well as eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Rock of Jordan Valley.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Dorian Place and Heart ‘N Home Hospice for their love and care for Opal and her family.
Services were held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Church of the Rock of Jordan Valley (Lions Hall), at 10:30 AM. Graveside committal will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Jordan Valley Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
