Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, where friends may call Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 from 4-8 PM. Interment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Nancy Kay Acks was born March 17, 1937 in Decatur, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lester Floyd and Juanita Porterfield Lenover who preceded her in death. She married George W. Acks on June 8, 1968. Mrs. Acks received both her undergraduate and a master degree in education from Millikin University. She worked her entire career at MacArthur High School, starting as a PE teacher and coach and rising to become the first female high school principal of the Decatur School District. Her educational experiences and leadership at MacArthur High School leave a legacy of influencing the lives of two generations of Decatur students. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
Surviving are son: Martin S. Acks (Carine) of Downers Grove, IL step-son; Ronald W. Acks (Judith) of Cornelius, NC; brothers; Floyd William Lenover (Jo Ann) of The Villages, FL, Tery Lenover of Denver, CO; sister; Patricia Ann Davis (Donnal) of Decatur, IL; grandson; Brian Acks of Chicago, IL; step-grandson; Jeffrey Reader (Holly) of Cornelius, NC, and step-great-granddaughter; Emily Reader of Cornelius , NC; uncle; Floyd Robert Porterfield of Heber Springs, AK, aunt: Lillian Carrie Fox of Rancho Cordova, CA; nieces and nephews: Tamara Nihiser of Decatur, IL, Ricki Davis of Surprise, AZ; Patrick Lenover (Lynn) of Bethlehem, PA; Susan Lenhardt (Lorne) of Annendale, VA ; Kevin (Kim) Lenover of Allentown, PA, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
