James H. Adams, 86, Normal, died at 9:53 a.m. Sunday (May 13, 2012) at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1925 in Bloomington, son of Homer Franklin Adams and Vulia Lehman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Homer Adams Jr., David Adams and Mathew Adams and sister, Betty Adams. He married Mary F. Coughlin on May 30, 1947 in Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Timothy (Sharon) Adams, Normal; Diane (Jeff) Adams Kruse, Pataskala, Ohio and Camilla Adams, Brady, Texas; sisters, Hazel Hart, Bloomington; Phyllis Whiteside and Enid Adams, both of Hudson and Shirley Warren, California; brothers, William H. (Camilla) Adams and John (Betty) Adams, both of Bloomington and Stephen Adams, California; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific, taking part in the battles at Iwo Jima, Saipan and Tinian.

He retired as a letter carrier from the Bloomington Post Office in 1987.
